If there’s one place in Singapore that knows how to do a good themed high tea, it’s ANTI:DOTE at Fairmont Singapore. Just for the month of August 2024, they’ve come up with a new whimsical Alice in Wonderland-themed high tea set that brings all our favourite elements of the fairytale to life.

The Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland-inspired High Tea ($68++ per person) features lots of playful and quirky elements like botanical embellishments, iconic motifs from the fairytale like edible “poker cards” and more. The whole set comes in a chest of drawers and there’s even a theatrical element to it with a mini “smoke show” when you open one of the drawers to reveal refreshing scoops of Citrus Cucumber Sorbet within. The set offers slightly more sweets than savouries, and some of our favourites from the sweets include the Pomme Cinnamon Puff Pastry: flaky and crisp mini apple pie puff pastries that are made to resemble actual storybooks, complete with beautiful watercolour-esque illustrations on the “book cover”.

We also enjoyed the Pistachio Raspberry Rose Tart that looks like a withered rose tree, and made with a trio of flavours that just can’t go wrong. Chocolate lovers will also enjoy the Caraway Chocolate 72% Macaron that’s generously filled with rich, bittersweet chocolate ganache, sandwiched between macarons shells illustrated with Alice herself. Other eye-catching items from the sweets selection include the Poker Meringue that looks like an edible deck of “poker cards”, the Matcha Madeleine that’s modelled after one of the Mad Hatter’s iconic top hats and Almond Diplomat & Blood Peach Verbena served in mini glass jars and topped with 3D “flamingo” skewers.

The savoury bites are also intricately presented, embellished with delicate floral garnishes. Our top picks for savouries are the Boston Lobster Tart with a decent amount of chunky lobster filling, the mushroom-filled Porcini Caviar Tart and the subtly spicy Pork Ragù Tart. The Smoked Salmon Sandwich is even made to look like the Queen of Hearts playing card, decorated with teeny tiny heart-shaped cutouts; while the Egg Mayonnaise is meant to look like the face of a pocketwatch.
Why Alice? Mocktail

Each high tea set also comes with 2 drinks: a mocktail and your choice of tea or coffee. The Why Alice? mocktail offers a fun hands-on experience where you have to DIY your drink by pouring a blue vial labelled “Drink Me” to create a gorgeous glittery turquoise-hued drink. If you’d like to make your high tea a boozy affair, you can top up $25 for the Imagine cocktail that’s served in a vintage-style teacup and filled with shimmery “liquid gold” as well. The Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland-inspired High Tea is available daily from 3pm to 5pm, with an additional seating on Saturdays and Sundays at 12pm to 2pm.
