VIRAL STUFFED SHIO PANS FROM JUST $3 AT THIS POPULAR PASTEL PINK BAKERY IN EVERTON PARK!

Shio pans are all the rage right now in Singapore, and if you’re following the craze, here’s a new shio pan spot you’ll want to check out. The cult-favourite bakery-café The Flour Department in Everton Park has just launched a new shio pan concept, Butter & Friends, offering a wide variety of unique shio pans from just $3!

The Butter & Friends concept happens every Wednesday, with up to a whopping 10 different flavours of shio pans available to choose from. They’ve got various sweet and savoury flavours available, with shio pans and fillings all freshly made in-house. The original shio pan is pretty delicious on its own: fluffy and buttery, with a crispy, lightly salted crust. But if you’re going to be trying their shio pans for real, you’ve got to get some of their unique flavours too.

London Earl Grey Brown Butter Milk Tea, $3.30

Pistachio Strawberry, $3.80

Cinnamon Roll Bourbon Butter Pecan, $3.40

Butter Lemon Pie, $3.40

Matcha Pistachio, $3.90

Some of our favourites from the selection are of the sweet variety, especially the London Earl Grey Brown Butter Milk Tea ($3.30), Pistachio Strawberry ($3.80) and Cinnamon Roll Bourbon Butter Pecan ($3.40). We loved how each flavour really came through; and they really did not skimp on the fillings—each shio pan was filled to the brim with rich and thick fillings. Another plus: even with all that filling, the shio pans were not overly sweet at all, but just right.

Truffle Sea Salt, $3.50

Smoked Mentaiko, $3.70

Shoutout to their savoury flavours as well: the Truffle Sea Salt ($3.50) had an amazing truffle aroma, with truffle bits folded into the actual dough as well. Mentaiko lovers will also enjoy the Smoked Mentaiko ($3.70), with a generous dollop of mentaiko inside and on top of the shio pan, lightly torched to give it a subtle smoky flavour.

The prices are also most surprising here, even with such generous fillings, all the shio pans are under $4 apiece—with the most expensive shio pan at $3.80. With such affordable prices and amazing taste, we can definitely see why Butter & Friends’ shio pans are such a hit. We visited on Wednesday, and queues had already started forming from 11.30am (they open at 12pm). They were also fully sold out only an hour into opening, so if you’re looking to snag some shio pans, you’re going to want to come down early too, as only walk-ins are allowed for the shio pans.

Butter & Friends is a Wednesday-special shio pan concept, meaning they’ll only be serving shio pans on Wednesdays, and their regular bakes won’t be available. On Wednesdays, they’ll have a line-up of up to 10 shio pan flavours, including 1 seasonal flavour that’ll be switched out every week. On other days The Flour Department is open (Wednesdays to Sundays), the usual line-up of bakes and drinks will be available for purchase, with a limited selection of shio pans added to the mix too.
