Here’s a new dessert spot if you’re a fan of sweets that aren’t too sweet. Dalaland is a new Swiss roll specialty café in the CBD, and they specialise in Japanese-inspired Swiss roll cakes in various unique flavours and pretty colours.

Dalaland is known for their healthier, “sugar-light” creations, where all their treats are made fresh daily with premium quality ingredients and natural sweeteners that are light on sugar. Their Swiss rolls come in a variety of beautiful pastel hues, and they’re almost too pretty to eat. While the café is more of a takeaway spot, there’s also a couple of camping chairs and benches outdoors for you to sit and enjoy your cakes.

Mango Citrus, $8.50

French Earl Grey, $8.50

Lychee Rose, $8.50

Intense Matcha, $8.90
There’s 6 flavours on the menu, and they’ll be launching a new flavour every month. Prices for Swiss rolls start from $8.40 per slice. Some of their more unique and popular flavours include the likes of Mango Citrus ($8.50), French Earl Grey ($8.50), Lychee Rose ($8.50) and Intense Matcha ($8.90). Out of these, our favourites were definitely the French Earl Grey for its fragrant tea aroma, and Lychee Rose for something more floral.

Vanilla Maple, $8.40

Classic Chocolate, $8.90
Otherwise, you can also opt for more classic flavours like Vanilla Maple ($8.40) and Classic Chocolate ($8.90). While we enjoyed how light and fluffy the cakes were—they were indeed not sweet or cloying—we’ve got to admit they’re a little pricey for their size.

But of course, you’re paying for premium natural ingredients like farm-fresh eggs and cocoa butter; so if you’re in the mood to indulge in more guilt-free treats, you can consider trying out Dalaland’s Swiss roll cakes. Dalaland also offers homemade 70% Dark Chocolate Cookies ($16.80) that come by the box, and you’re free to try them out in-store as well.
