Have you ever heard of “bird’s nest” prata?! No, there’s no actual bird’s nest in the prata, but this viral breakfast spot in JB is famed for their unique nest-shaped prata at super affordable prices from under $2 SGD!
Dapo’ Khaleeda is located just 10 minutes away from the checkpoint, and they’re known for their popular “Sarang Burung” prata varieties from just RM 6 (~$1.70 SGD)! “Sarang Burung” translates to “bird’s nest”, and instead of your usual “flat” pratas, their version features a hole in the middle—a “nest” if you will—to be filled by 2 perfectly runny sunny side eggs.
Plain Sarang Burung Prata, RM 6
Rendang Sarang Burung Prata, RM 12
Sardine Sarang Burung Prata, RM 12
The original Plain Sarang Burung Prata costs just RM 6 (~$1.70 SGD) and comes with 1 piece of prata with 2 eggs in the middle. Each serving also comes with their own house made curry and sambal. You can also jazz up your prata by adding on a side of rendang or sardines for that extra kick of spice. Rendang or Sardine Sarang Burung Prata costs RM 12 each (~$3.40 SGD each).
They also have other eats like satay sticks, fried noodles, fried chicken and more. The place opens at 7am, and is pretty popular with both tourists and locals alike, so we recommend coming down early if you want to have this for breakfast, or be prepared to wait in line!
