Here’s yet another highly anticipated restaurant opening: with its luxurious and modern decor, Restaurant Born is making waves in the culinary scene. Housed in the iconic heritage building: the Jinrikisha Station in Tanjong Pagar, Born’s identity is rooted in the idea of the Circle of Life—that everything will eventually come back full circle.
The highlight of the restaurant’s interior is undoubtedly the eye-catching paper sculpture hanging from the ceiling that you’ll see as soon as you step in. The abstract centerpiece resembles white fungus (also an ingredient you’ll see in Born’s menu) and makes you feel like you’ve just stepped in an art gallery rather than a restaurant.
Born’s cuisine is contemporary and heavily influenced by Chinese ingredients and executed with French techniques, creating dishes that are bold and modern, yet familiar to the palate. Born is only open for dinner, and they serve only one 9-Course Seasonal Chef’s Menu ($368) where you get to experience the chef’s personal life journey and experiences through his food. Highlights from the current menu include Chicken Skin Mille Feuille, Alaskan King Crab, Toasted Rice, Pigeon and more.
