If you’re been to Japan’s popular Ichiran Ramen, you’ll know that they’re famous for having individual booths complete with partitions and blinds to minimise human interaction—perfect for solo diners who want a bit (or a lot) of privacy while dining. While we can’t experience Ichiran here (yet), this new Japanese eatery has recreated the solo dining experience right here in Singapore!
Located at the new Shaw Plaza in Balestier, Ontama Don is a recently-opened restaurant with solo booth-style dining, much like the ones you see in Ichiran. They even have bamboo blinds in front of you to complete the Ichiran-style experience! Just like at Ichiran, the food will be served directly to you from the kitchen via the window blinds before being closed shut to give you ultimate privacy.

Nevertheless, Ontama Don offers affordable and value-for-money donburi sets consisting of a total of 6 items from just $15—quite the steal. All dons are served as a set with your main, Onsen Tamago, Miso Soup, Salad and sides (Beni Shoga, Takuan and Chuka Wakame). Choose from dons like Wakatori Don ($15), Tendon ($19), Gyu Don ($21), Unatama Don ($23) and more. They also offer a range of sushi, sashimi, handrolls and other sides, along with alcoholic drinks.
