For many of us living in Singapore who are frequent users of our public buses, we’re probably used to hearing the familiar ding dong of the bell to signal the bus stopping whenever we’re out and about. But can you imagine hearing the same “bus stopping” bell sound even at home?! Turns out, this one Singaporean is such a fan of the bell sound, he took it upon himself to install one in his own home, even with original parts from an actual SBS bus!

In a series of viral TikTok videos posted by user @ehehkaun1, we see him documenting the entire process of installing the bus bell in his HDB home, from the iconic “Bus Stopping” sign that lights up and flashes red whenever the doorbell is pressed, to even the yellow bus stopping bell itself as a doorbell!

It all started when @ehehkaun1 managed to acquire the original parts of “Bus Stopping” bell from a decommissioned SBS Transit bus thanks to the help of a friend:

He soon got to work installing the “Bus Stopping” sign in his home, a tedious job that was 100% DIY—from the wiring, extension, pasting, drilling, everything.

After all the DIY work was done, he had a fully functional “Bus Stopping” sign in his home that would light up, along with the iconic bell sound whenever someone pressed the doorbell. But the transformation wasn’t complete without the addition of the actual “Bus Stopping” bell to replace his original doorbell—as pointed out by another TikTok user in the comments.
And so he did:

He even repurposed some of the original metal handrail as part of the doorbell itself! @ehehkaun1’s novel doorbell transformation has gained much attention on social media, with many of the comments supporting his little project, and even some clamouring for a “Bus Stopping” bell of their own.
What’s next for @ehehkaun1’s house? An EZ-Link card reader maybe?
