There’s something to do for everyone this long weekend! Revel in the mood of this long awaited holiday by stuffing yourself silly with a plethora of cuisines at the Yummy Food Festival 2017 or get that perfect Instagram shot with your visually aesthetic food at the HYPESTAGRAM Food Festival 2017. For those who would prefer to get your blood pumping, do head down to the Sentosa MegaFun event and DreamWorks Run after which you can dance the night away at Mambo Jambo at Zouk.
1. Mega Fun at Sentosa
The June-exclusive beach event held at Sentosa, Mega Fun, is back again this year, definitely bigger and better. Though catered for the little ones currently on their June vacation break, we are sure that the activities lined up will be sure to have the older ones squealing with child-like excitement as well (it definitely did for us).
Definitely the star of the entire Mega Fun event will have to be the Mega Inflatables Playground at Palawan Beach. With several inflatable installations set up, don your swimsuit, slap on your sunblock and experience that heart-dropping sensation as you slide down Singapore’s largest inflatable slide that is 3-stories high, wade through a mega ball pool that is filled with more than 200,000 balls (navigating through the pool will be tougher than it sounds) or challenge yourself on the slippery, foam-filled obstacle courses such as the balancing beam. The best part about this whole entire inflatable pop-up playground? You no longer have to pay an admission fee as required in the previous year, it is entirely free for all to enjoy!
As the event promises, the fun is extended till late evening as you relax from a tiring afternoon of hopping around the inflatable playground with a Movie by the Beach where you can catch family-friendly blockbusters or watch the Merlion come to life at the Merlion Magic Lights show that features world-class projection and lighting.

2. STATE OF CHANGE Exhibition at DECK
The quote “change is the only constant” stays true to the STATE OF CHANGE exhibition at DECK which examines the importance of memory in our ever-changing city-state where urban renewal is a constant. Featuring “Some Other Way”, by Nicholas Koh and Jiahui Tan and “Singapore’s Vanished Public Housing Estates” by Koh Kim Chay and Eugene Ong, these joint exhibitions employ photography in documenting these memories of our city which have already, or may soon cease to exist in reality.
On different dates, there will be walking tours and photowalks around historical locations such as Sungei Road Market, which will not only bring about a sense of nostalgia but also, gives you a chance to document these places through photography before they disappear. So, do register early, prepare your cameras and capture the best shot of these places which may hold a special place in your heart.
There will also be tours of the exhibition, film screenings, music performances and a public talk which are conducted by the curators and artists themselves so this would be the perfect chance for you to delve deeper into the impetus behind the artists’ works.

3. DreamWorks Day 2017
Kung-Fu Panda, Shrek, Madagascar – extremely familiar movies which have not only captured the hearts of both the young and old but also, tingles those feelings of childhood nostalgia. For those who love the works of DreamWorks Animation, you would be thrilled to know that beyond the cinema, the first DreamWorks Run in Asia will be held right here in Singapore. For those who aren’t really fans of marathons, fret not, the DreamWorks Run leans more towards a fun run which is suited for both children and adults with their 5KM Fun Run and their Kids Dash so you are in for a jolly good time without feeling too breathless!
Or, if you’re not for the run, you could also conquer the KungFu Panda Rock Wall, perform little stunts and tricks on the Madagascar Bouncing Castle or pit your wits against the Shrek Maze and find your way out of this little labyrinth. Take a break from these attractions and snap a photo with your favourite DreamWorks characters or try your hand at winning a prize with the classic carnival games at the carnival area. Not forgetting, there will be exclusive DreamWorks merchandise when you register for the various runs or the carnival so if you are an avid collector of DreamWork merchandise, you know what to do!

4. Yummy Food Expo 2017
Once again, here’s a reason for the food-crazed people to rejoice. With a plethora of different cuisines from all over the region for you to stuff yourself endlessly, the Yummy Food Expo 2017 will have you leaving the convention hall too stuffed to walk. This food expo which opens this weekend at the Singapore Expo features food booths that draw parallels to the Geylang Serai Bazaar with their funky food inventions of Durian Bombs, Kong Guan Truffle Mushroom Bao which is basically, a bun which disguises itself as a mushroom and frozen fruit juice popsicles! Alongside these unique food selections are the staples of the night markets from the different regions such as the Taiwanese Large and Crispy Squid, French Fries which are available in 7 different flavours and more. How can one ever resist their favourite night market snack which they have been craving for since their last vacation?
Hot, piping food aside, there will also be non-perishables items which hail from Korea, Taiwan and more which you can bring home and slowly savour. You can be assured you will be leaving this place full not only in the tummy but also, your hands would be full (literally) with bags of goods that were too tempting not to buy!

5. HYPESTAGRAM Food Festival 2017
Let your weekend be filled with food as another food festival beckons you this weekend. Not only for those who possess an intense love for food but also, for those who squeal over visually pleasing food, the HYPESTAGRAM Food Festival 2017 held at CHIJMES will be the ultimate place filled with tons of Instagram worthy opportunities (The name of the festival says it all).
All those aesthetically pleasing hipster food and drinks that you constantly chance upon on your Instagram feed will all be gathered under one roof so get ready to dig in to treats from The Talad Drink, Churros Factory, PopBar, Cocoloco and more! Food aside, have your hand at making Bento Boxes with Instagram sensation, Little Miss Bento and you could be making Bento boxes to bring to school/work from now onwards. 6. Mambo Jambo Night at Zouk
The highly anticipated and longest running party in Singapore’s nightlife history makes its much-awaited return. Not just your typical clubbing event, Mambo Jambo at Zouk will return this weekend to present to you the classic retro anthems of 80’s-90’s classics from ABBA, Salt-N-Pepa and more so throw on your dancing shoes and groove to these hits. It is definitely an experience for those who would like to bask in the nostalgia of the past and also for the virgin partygoers who would create memories different from the usual clubbing experience.
