If you can’t decide between a seafood or meat buffet, we’ve got just the thing for you! Carlton City Hotel’s popular Sea & Grill buffet dinner at Plate restaurant is back, and they even have a 1-for-1 deal ongoing till 31st December 2023! We headed down to Plate to try out the buffet spread for ourselves, and we’re here to tell you all the good stuff to expect from the buffet, and if it’s worth trying out!
First order of business: the seafood. If you’re an expert level buffet goer, you’ll know that the seafood selection is most likely where you’ll get your money’s worth; and on this front, Plate doesn’t disappoint. Seafood lovers can indulge in a premium selection of fresh seafood on ice like Boston Lobsters, Oysters, Snow Crab Legs, Half-Shell Scallops Tiger Prawns and Green Lip Mussels. The highlight has got to be the Boston Lobsters and Snow Crab Legs: the lobsters had generous amounts of meat (and roe!), and the crab legs were naturally sweet and tender.
The buffet also has plenty of assorted sushi and sashimi, as well as hot cooked seafood options like Singapore Chilli Crab with Fried Mantou, Wok-Tossed White Pepper Clams and Cheesy Baked Mussels.
For carnivores, you’ll be spoiled by the array of meat options: from BBQ, roasts, grilled, baked and more. Look forward to their signature Slow-Roasted Beef Rib-eye with a tender pink middle, Slow-Baked Whole Salmon, Roast Pork or Duck (on rotation), Assorted Sausages, Chicken and Beef Satay and more.
There are also live Singapore Laksa and Pasta stations where your dishes are made à la minute. For pasta, pick from spaghetti, penne or gnocchi cooked in one of 3 sauces: aglio olio, pomodoro or carbonara. You also have the option of customising your pasta with various add-ons like bacon, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and more.
Still not satisfied? Not to worry, there’s still more to devour at the buffet with a salad bar, an assortment of cheeses, breads and rolls, soup and fresh fruits to fill you right up. We’d suggest that you save plenty of room for desserts (and we do mean plenty), as the dessert selection at the buffet can constitute for a whole meal on its own.
Highlights from the dessert bar include a Chocolate Fountain, Signature Muah Chee and even a DIY Ice Kachang station where you can shave your own ice and add all your favourite ice toppings and syrups like attap seeds, red beads, chendol, corn, condensed milk and more! As for the 1-for-1 promotion, it’ll be available till the end of December 2023 when you pay with your DBS/POSB, OCBC or Citibank credit/debit card. With this promotion, each person only pays $59++ (UP. $118++ per person), which is a mega steal considering the amount of premium seafood and meats you’ll get to enjoy, on top of other usual buffet suspects.
