We thought that we won’t ever be surprised by anything that happens in Japan anymore, but apparently there’s a shiba inu who is also the manager of a store. And a roasted sweet potato store at that.
Ken-kun is just 3 years old, and he’s already got his very own sweet potato stand.
Every time someone approaches the stand, Ken-kun pops up to greet him. That’s all he does, because the store is technically a self-service store.
Called 犬の焼き芋屋 which literally translates to “A Baked Potato Shop”, customers choose their own sweet potato from a heated white box before placing their money into a small hole.
One roasted sweet potato costs just 100yen. You’ll have to pay exact as Ken-kun won’t be able to return your change. He’s just a dog. This cute little sign next to the stand even says “Because I’m a dog, I can’t give you change.”
If you’re feeling nice, you can always drop in a little extra change so that Ken-kun can get more treats!
The entire stall is based on a honor system, and there’s actually really nothing stopping you from not paying.
When off-duty, Ken-kun likes to take long walks around the neighborhood.
Tips in the form of pats are always welcome! We’re 100% sure that Ken-kun won’t mind.
