Whether you’re looking for a casual bite or a night out drinking with friends, the new SHINRAI is the place to be. Opened by the same folks behind luxe omakase restaurant, Sushi Yujo, SHINRAI features a super vibey dark and moody interior, lit with vibrant neon lights. There’s IG-worthy retropop photo ops at every corner and an open bar where you can witness all the action!
SHINRAI boasts premium “omakase”-inspired dishes starting from a friendly $1.80 each, with a particular focus on charcoal-grilling and aburi-style items. We loved how each dish truly felt elevated, not like the casual izakaya-style dining you might be familiar with—yet SHINRAI doesn’t feel pretentious at all.

One of our favourites from the menu has got to be the Seafood Chawanmushi with Truffle Caviar ($9.80) that came in little clay pots. We were immediately hit with a whiff of delicious truffle aroma the moment we lifted the lid, coupled with the ultra soft steamed egg custard that was silky smooth and made extra deluxe with the addition of seafood and caviar—you can’t go wrong with this dish.

We also enjoyed the Ebi with Mentaiko ($21.80), featuring a chunky butterflied prawn that’s perfectly juicy and grilled to perfection before being torched with mentaiko. Our only gripe with this dish is that the mentaiko flavour could be slightly more prominent. Beef lovers will also enjoy the indulgent Wagyu Foie Gras Don ($48.80) that’s topped with strips of wagyu beef cooked to the perfect medium rare.

Sashimi lovers will also enjoy the Salmon Carpaccio ($16.80), a sophisticated spin on the usual sashimi, topped with caviar and a tangy dressing that’ll leave you reaching for more. The chunky maki rolls are also chock full of ingredients, and are great for sharing.
From now till 30th April 2024, you can also enjoy 1-for-1 house pour sakes (UP. $38) to pair with these eats, served in a 300ml carafe. The 1-for-1 sake is only available from 8.30pm onwards till closing time.
