Omakase with a show? Sign us right up! Torio is an authentic Japanese restaurant located in Tiong Bahru’s Link Hotel, with a fun and theatrical omakase-style teppanyaki experience that’s sure to leave a lasting impression.
Their lunch menu offers 7-courses for a friendly $78++ per person, with 3 different types to choose from: Kaisen (seafood), Buta (pork) or Gyuniku (beef). Dinner is a more indulgent affair with a 10-course Kaisen (seafood) or Niku (beef) menu for $188++ per person.
We tried the 10-course Niku teppanyaki omakase ($188++ per person), and were blown away by both the taste and presentation of the items. The Niku course includes:
- Appetiser (3 kinds)
- Chef’s Special Dish
- Pork Collar
- King Prawn
- Wagyu (80g)
- Foie Gras
- Vegetables
- Wagyu Fried Rice
- Soup
- Dessert
The chef will present all the items you’ll be having in your meal on a wooden tray, so you can see exactly what you’ll be having throughout the meal. We recommend snagging seats at the counter, so you can be near to all the fiery action—as there’ll be plenty of those during your entire meal.
Aside from flashy fire performances, there will also be lots of theatrical elements and interactions with the cheeky chef: such as a flaming onion “volcano”, egg throwing, and “beating” heart fried rice—super entertaining!
You can also take your teppanyaki experience to the next level by making it boozy and ordering a bottle of sake (from $38++), which we opted to have served in a unique Sake Tower. Aside from teppanyaki, Torio also offers sushi omakase (from $98++ per person), as well as lunch courses (from $78++ per person), lunch/donburi sets (from $28++) and ala carte items.
