Dine next to a Hogwarts train that emits real steam

Potterheads, exploring Hogwarts has always been an unattainable dream for us. So whenever a Harry Potter-themed cafe pops up, it’s a chance to transport our Muggle selves to the wonderful wizarding world, and Seoul’s newest Kings Cross Cafe is by far one of the most breathtaking around.

Opened in November just 5 minutes away from Hongik University Station, Kings Cross Cafe is 4-storeys worth of magical vibes and lifelike replicas of wands, sets, and even a Hogwarts train that emits real steam with a working front light!

You have to purchase a cup of coffee (from KRW5000, approximately SGD$6) as an entrance fee, and entering the cafe will immediately make you feel like you’ve stepped into the Leaky Cauldron.

With plenty of chandeliers, paintings, wooden furniture, brick walls, and owl cages, it’s a cosy abode that looks humble yet regal.

Eclectic antiques and vintage items are scattered about too, making it feel like Arthur Weasley or Xenophilius Lovegood came to visit. Source:@___lkj_
Some of the cafe’s highlights include a wall full of wand boxes just like what you’d expect at Ollivanders, a Platform 9 ¾ photobooth with a suitcase trolley already halfway in, and a life-sized Hogwarts train seating booth!

Costumes and house scarves can also be rented for photo-taking with props like broomsticks and wands to play around with, and character cards featuring our favourite casts of the Harry Potter series are available for sale.

We hear that queues to enter the cafe starts an hour even before they open their doors at 11.30AM on a weekday, and honestly, we’re not at all surprised since it’s so gorgeous. Accio, Portkey to Kings Cross Cafe!
