Remember when the popular Press Butter Sand cookies from Japan landed in Singapore? Well, it seems that another famous Japanese cookie brand will be coming to Singapore real soon—Sugar Butter Tree is landing at Takashimaya, bringing their iconic “butter cereal cookies” here for the first time ever!

Sugar Butter Tree is by the same company as the iconic Tokyo Banana, and they’re most known for their signature Sugar Butter Tree Sandwich: crispy and flaky cookies that feature creamy white chocolate filling sandwiched between slabs of cereal-esque cookies. The cookies are made with a special dough of various cereal grains and coated with butter and sugar prior to baking for an extra crispy bite. The “cereal cookie sandwich” also resembles Weet-Bix cereal bars, though we imagine they’d taste much less dry and bland.

The Sugar Butter Tree Sandwich is originally sold in Japan from 378 yen for 5 pieces, or roughly $3.45 SGD, but you can expect to be paying more for these cookies in Singapore. You can also expect to see the Sugar Butter Sand Tree Almond Chocolate being sold in Singapore, a miniature verson of the bigger Sandwich cookies that are filled with chocolate filling instead. Sugar Butter Tree’s cookies will be available at Takashimaya’s Japanese confectionery section at Basement 2 (exact location to be confirmed) starting from 20th September 2024 onwards.
