Longing for a lush island getaway but don’t have the time to travel to Bali or the Maldives? Fret not, as there’s soon to be a new tropical island getaway just 15 minutes away from Singapore! Enter Nirup Island: an uninhabited island in Indonesia’s Riau Islands Province (Kepulauan Riau) surrounded by clear blue waters, world-class beaches, lush nature and more—and it’s set to open in 2023!
Embark on a tranquil escapade and fall in love with the idyllic island charm of Nirup Island with its luxurious oceanfront villas, residences, hotel resorts, 5-star M Gallery Hotel, seafood centre, spa, sunset bar and more. Guests on the island will also get to enjoy an exciting array of recreational activities like watersports, unique dining concepts and entertainment.
According to the developer’s official website, Nirup will have 96 hotel rooms, 38 hotel villas and 44 residences (for sale), boasting gorgeous “Maldives-style living”, with architecture inspired by traditional Indonesian structures using thatched roofs, bamboo and natural materials. The villas will also allow for stunning panoramic 360 views of the island. With so many things to look forward to on the island, we’re expecting Nirup to become one of Asia’s most desired and upscale destinations.
The best part is that Nirup Island will be located in very close proximity to our sunny little red dot, situated just 13km away from the coast of Sentosa. It’ll also be super accessible if you’re looking for a quick or last-minute getaway, as there will be 10 ferry trips daily from ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove and you can clear Indonesia customs directly from the island.
You can even hire your own private yachts to sail to the island as the integrated marina can take up to 40 yachts—perfect for fun island parties or gatherings! The island is currently still undergoing developments, so no definite opening date has been set for 2023, but we certainly hope it’ll open sooner rather than later.
