Looking for another food festival to hit up during your next weekend trip to JB? Here’s one: the Malaysia Thailand Halal Food Festival (MATHAF) is back, with plenty of popular halal Thai eats, entertainment and more.

The mega food festival boasts a wide variety of Malaysian and Thai street foods, plus many viral eats that you might find at one of Bangkok’s night markets. Some of the more note-worthy Thai stalls include the longan-loaded drinks, red/green milk tea, coconut ice cream in actual coconut husks, saucy sausage skewers, moo ping sticks, stuffed grilled squid, banana egg pancakes, key lime rojak, Thai-style laksa, pad thai and mango sticky rice, among others.

Some other food festival favourites include the likes of seafood maggie mee, stir fried cockles, deep fried baby crabs, nasi kerabu, chocolate-coated baby Dutch pancakes, pickled fruits, mix & match snacks/candy, corn cheese, XXL rainbow fries, egg “sticks”, bone marrow soup, giant fried chicken, character cotton candy and more.

The massive Thai-centric food festival will be up and running from now till 23rd June 2024 at Lotus’s Desa Tebrau in JB, just ~20 minutes away from the checkpoint. Aside from eats, there will also be entertainment options for the little ones, like an inflatable bouncy castle, mini fishing pools, and kiddy rides.
