Newly opened earlier this month, the second outlet of retro-themed eatery, The Hainan Story by chef Pang Kok Keong at Hotel Boss in Jalan Besar, now offers a unique variety of locally-inspired sponge cakes, including the Hainanese Coconut Pandan, Nanyang Yam Orh Nee, Premium Old Tree MSW Durian, Sea Salt Gula Melaka and Premium Belgian Chocolate.
Occupying a 70-seater space, The Hainan Story’s all-new swiss roll cakes can feed an estimated six pax at a time, and will cost $12.80, or $3.80 per slice, with the exception of the posher Mao Shan Wang flavour, which is priced at $28.80 a roll or $6.80 a slice.
Complete with an unimaginably soft and fluffy texture, the Mao Shan Wang durian flavour incorporates a thick layer of rich pandan fudge, alongside pungent old tree Mao Shan Wang pulp, to create an elegant pistachio green swiss roll.
Order a swiss roll in conjunction with The Hainan Story’s house-made crispy waffle and soft serve bowl, and a cup of butter Kopi or modern Yam Latte for an estimated $9.90, or a variety of other delectable dishes including, the $18.80 Banana Leaf Grilled Stingray, and $9.80 Jin Jin Golden Porridge, at any time of the day and night – The Hainan Story’s second outlet opens 24 hours a day.
