NEW “FUTURISTIC” KBBQ RESTAURANT GRILLS MEAT USING AUTOMATIC ROLLING METAL RODS!

We aren’t kidding when we say Korea is literally living in the year 2050—this new KBBQ restaurant in Singapore grills their meats using actual rolling metal rods!

CheongDamChae is probably the most futuristic KBBQ concept we’ve seen so far, they’re the first-ever to bring these state-of-the-art automated “rolling” grills to Singapore. Instead of the usual static grill pans or wire mesh, they use a series of specially-made metal rods imported directly from Korea as a grill. The metal rods are aligned over charcoal fire using an automated system, and each rod rotates constantly to keep your meat moving back and forth over the heat!

Now, we know what you’re probably thinking: all that fuss just for KBBQ? The “rolling” mechanism might seem gimmicky at first, but we found that it actually makes grilling the meat much more convenient! With the “rolling” rods activated, the meats are continually moving over different areas of the charcoal fire for a much gentler cook, giving you meats that are grilled more evenly. It’s also more convenient to grill as you don’t have to constantly move or flip the meat around yourself—and lose those precious meat juices in the process.

Beef Combo, $198.80

Flower Prime Rib

Ageing Soy Sauce Bone-in Rib

Secret Sauce Prime Rib

Prime Ribeye

Duroc Pork Belly, $32.80

The restaurant serves a wide variety of premium beef and pork cuts, and you can get them as a combo set or a la carte. We had the Beef Combo ($198.80) that came with 4 different cuts of beef weighing 670g in total: Prime Ribeye, Flower Prime Rib, Secret Sauce Prime Rib and Ageing Soy Sauce Bone-in Rib. Out of the 4 cuts, our favourites were the Flower Prime Rib which had the best marbling; and the Ageing Soy Sauce Bone-in Rib which was super flavourful and tender thanks to the soy marinade. Pork lovers will also love the thick and fatty cut of Duroc Pork Belly ($32.80), a classic KBBQ favourite.

The skilled staff will also do all the necessary grilling for you, so you can just sit back and enjoy. Switching out the grill is also a seamless process, you don’t have to wait for the server to bring a fresh grill—simply press a button and the metal rods will be switched to new ones automatically in seconds.

Tteokbokki, $24.80

Boneless Brownie Chicken, $38.80

Bomb Steamed Egg, $8.80

Bean Paste Stew, $17.80

Even if you’re not coming for KBBQ, they’ve got plenty of options for mains and fried chicken: including Tteokbokki ($24.80), Boneless Brownie Chicken ($38.80), Bomb Steamed Egg ($8.80) and Bean Paste Stew ($17.80), among others. We also liked their variety of banchan, with a selection of 8 refillable sides in total: including some more unique options like pickled radish wraps, spicy braised tofu, soy braised onions, stewed potatoes and more—all freshly made in-house.
