Lala claypot hotpots are all the rage in JB, but if you’re not keen on joining the queues for the famous spots, here’s a more understated place where you can get your lala fix. Miijii Hotpot has a new lala hotpot buffet from under $20 per person with unlimited seafood, meat, snacks, condiments and desserts too!

Miijii Hotpot is a little further away from the usual JB haunts, located in the Austin Heights area about 45 minutes away from the checkpoint—but that means you probably won’t need to deal with hours-long queues just to get your lala hotpot cravings satisfied. Miijii Hotpot is also fully indoors, so you can enjoy your hotpot in cool, air-conditioned comfort instead of outdoors.

The hotpot restaurant is known for their hotpot buffets, and they’ve recently added a new lala soup option to their menu, and they’ll even cook the lala (flaming with Chinese wine and all) directly in the hotpot itself, right in front of you. Note that this isn’t the usual lala hotpot that’s cooked in a claypot, rather the lala soup is cooked in a metal hotpot.

As part of the buffet, you can help yourself to the self-serve bars for unlimited seafood, meats, vegetables, and all your favourite hotpot ingredients. Some items you’ll find from the self-serve stations include flower crabs, oysters, mussels, prawns, squid, cockles, bamboo clams, fish slices, prawn paste, handmade dumplings, tripe, beef slices, pork slices and so much more.

The buffet even includes free flow snacks, sides, condiments and desserts too. The price of the standard buffet starts from just RM56.90 (~$17 SGD), but if you wish to have the lala broth, its an additional RM12 or RM68.90 (~$20) in total—which is definitely a steal if you ask us, considering you get all the unlimited hotpot ingredients already included in the package.
