Mr. Bump nasi lemak, Mr. Happy pancakes, and milo dinosaur
For those of you who grew up reading the Mr. Men & Little Miss series, rejoice – the lovable characters are coming to us in the form of a themed pop-up cafe at Kumoya!
As usual, there are lots of plushies around to cuddle with while you wait for your dishes!
Its doors will open to the public from 5th July – end September, and is centred around the adventures of the Mr. Men and Little Misses here in Singapore, with lots of uniquely Singaporean icons part of the decor. Think Mr. Men alighting from MRT trains, and Mr. Greedy eating an Iced Gem Biscuit!
Adorable menu items
There’ll be a total of 8 snacks, 6 mains, 5 desserts, 10 beverages for you to choose from!
In line with the theme, diners can expect locally-inspired food designed by popular food stylist, Little Miss Bento.
These include the Fried Mantou With House-made Chilli Crab Dip, Tempura Mackerel Otah With Sambal Mayo, Mr. Strong Chilli Crab Pasta, and Mr. Bump Knock-out Nasi Lemak – his bandages are ingeniously made with popiah skin.
Fried Mantou With House-made Chilli Crab Dip ($11.90)
Golden brown and crispy, these mantous are fried to perfection and goes delightfully well with the spicy chilli crab dip that has actual bits of crab meat in it!
Mr. Strong Chilli Crab Pasta ($21.90)
Fans of chilli crab will not be disappointed by the Mr. Strong Chilli Crab Pasta, which nails the well-loved dish’s signature sweet and tangy flavours while packing a satisfying punch.
The soft shell crab is also well-seasoned and extremely crunchy without being dry, which adds extra texture to the entire dish!
Mr. Bump Knock-out Nasi Lemak ($23.90)
An extravagant version of the humble nasi lemak is the Mr. Bump Knock-out Nasi Lemak, which boasts tempura sambal prawns, a potato croquette, and a glorious ramen egg in addition to a large slab of fried chicken, keropok, and a mix of walnut and anchovies.
Go Big On Little Miss Tiny Black Pepper Tempura Soft Shell Crab Burger ($22.90)
With a steamed bun shaped just like the storybooks and a quail egg cleverly disguised as Little Miss Tiny, it’s no wonder the Go Big On Little Miss Tiny Burger is the personal favourite of Little Miss Bento’s. Light and fluffy, the “book” comes with a side of hand-cut fries and fresh garden salad as well.
Mr. Men and Little Miss Special Chocolate Fondue Platter ($23.90)
It even has chocolate rice and magic sprinkles on the side!
Great for the ‘gram is the fondue platter, which comes with a creamy and generous swirl of Hokkaido soft serve and a large assortment of fruits, homemade Milo brownies, doughnut cake pops, marshmallow, and even an agar agar shaped like an ang ku kueh.
Mr. Happy’s Cheerful Calamansi Strawberry Tart ($18.90)
If you don’t really have a sweet tooth, opt for Mr. Happy’s Cheerful Calamansi Strawberry Tart – it strikes a good balance between sweet and sour with the calamansi tart itself being refreshingly zesty, and the Hokkaido soft serve and cotton candy saccharine.
Beverages
There’s also a wide selection of drinks for you to pair your meal with, ranging from frappes and juices to lattes. Here’s an added bonus – every frappe comes with a limited-edition Mr. Men and Little Miss inflatable fridge magnet, while every juice and latte ordered will get you a limited-edition Mr. Men and Little Miss coaster!
Collect all 6 coasters and you’ll get a complete MRT train!
Mark your calendars and relive your childhood memories
Of course, there will be plenty of photo-taking opportunities around too, like a life-sized Little Miss Princess specially dressed in our Sarong Kebaya right outside the cafe.
Limited-edition Mr. Men and Little Miss merchandises sourced from around the world will also be available exclusively at the pop-up cafe, with items like tote bags, notebooks, plushie keychains, and even humongous plush toys that are almost a metre tall!
