You’ve probably seen news of the highly popular (albeit controversial) Chinese coffee chain, luckin coffee making its foray into Singapore all over your social media feeds. Well, we got a taste of luckin on their opening day and we’re here to tell you all about it! Spoiler alert: you’ll be able to get luckin’s coffee for just $0.99!
First impressions: their dine-in outlet at Marina Square is pretty chic, with blue floral decor and sleek silver tables. Note that seating is pretty limited at Marina Square, so you might want to get your coffees to-go instead. luckin is also 100% cashier-less, so you’ll have to order through their app and pick up your coffee at the counter.
Of course, we had to try luckin’s famous Iced Coconut Latte ($6.40), a drink that has sold over 10 million cups within the first month of its launch and over 300 million cups to date. If you’re someone who dislikes that artificial coconut flavour, you’ll be happy to know that luckin’s Coconut Series has absolutely none of that. The coconut drinks are made with cold-pressed raw coconut milk, and tastes like a blend between a coconut shake and coffee—a pretty unique flavour, indeed.
We also tried their Matcha Exfreezo™, luckin’s version of a frappuccino. While the matcha flavour is present, it’s more on the subtle side, so if you’re a matcha purist, this might not be strong enough for you.
As a welcome promotion for luckin’s first time app users, you’ll get your first in-app order for just $0.99! This promotion applies to all drinks on the menu, limited to the first drink order only, with no minimum spending required. If you don’t want to download the app, that’s okay too—just scan the QR code in-store to place your order.
Drinks on the menu range from $5.60 to $6.40, and you can choose from options like their award-winning Hambella Americano, signature Creamy Dreamy Latte, Yirgacheffe Americano, Vanilla Flavoured Creamy Latte, Velvet Latte, Coconut Mocha, Dark Brown Sugar Velvet Latte and more.
luckin coffee currently has 2 outlets in Singapore: Marina Square (dine-in) and Ngee Ann City (takeaway). More outlets will be opening at a later date at the following locations: Guoco Tower, Aperia and Jewel Changi Airport.
