A modern Japanese restaurant and bar is coming to Tanjong Pagar. Dubbed, ‘IKO’, this spectacular neon-themed eatery invites guests to indulge in contemporary Japanese creations, mouth-watering robata-grilled bites, as well as an exceptional collection of sake and Japanese-inspired cocktails, accompanied by groovy music and good vibes.
Set to occupy a space along Neil Road, this restaurant is set to be the latest stylish addition to the lively Tanjong Pagar district, and will open for the first time today, 22 April 2021. Visually, the restaurant’s semordnilap, ‘OKI’ – meaning ‘ocean’ in Japanese – sets the theme of the interior murals. Regarded as a stroke of ‘artistic genius’, IKO’s interior nine-meter artwork of swirling ocean waves by homegrown artist Tobyato combines all aspects of ‘OKI’ to form four emerging cranes which symbolise the unforgettable experience of IKO.
Promising an elevated dining concept, IKO (行く) which directly translates to ‘Let’s go’, will showcase six dedicated menus, with items separated in accordance to the following categories – Raw, Cold, Small, Robata, Rice / Noodle, and Sweet.
Complete with a variety of innovative beverages, guests can expect an enticing collection of sake, alongside must-try dishes in the form of the $46 Scampi Donabe, the $38 Angus Short Ribs with port wine jus and garlic confit, the $38 Japanese Black Cod with miso butter and lime, and the $25 Hokkaido Scallops with iberico ham, red cabbage, and clam velouté.
