Oyster lovers should definitely hit up this newest oyster bar in Singapore: Kura Oyster & Highball is a hidden oyster bar specialising in unique seafood and—you guessed it—oyster creations!
Tucked away in one of the beautiful shophouses along Telok Ayer, Kura is a moody and intimate space, with only limited counter seats around the bar and no table seats. There are only a mere 19 counter seats, so expect a really cosy affair, especially if they have a full house. The good news is, they’re looking to add about 10 more separate table seats soon, which will allow them to accommodate more diners.
Kura serves Japanese-inspired fare, with a particular focus on fresh oysters and novel seafood-centric dishes. Must-try oyster items from the menu include the Truffle Caviar Oysters ($17), Ponzu Jelly Oysters ($15), Tosa Sherbet Oysters ($15), Butter Yaki Oysters ($16), Oyster Omelette ($15), Signature Oyster Somen ($19) and Kaki Chahan ($20), among others.
Other highlights from the menu include the Kanitama Mentaiko Gratin ($15), a Japanese Snow Crab Gratin topped with a generous amount of torched mentaiko for the ultimate seafood umami flavour. Meat and seafood fans will also enjoy the Wagyu Beef Tartare ($19), Ehire ($13), Pork Belly Teppanyaki ($10), Unagi Kobayaki ($20), Nagoya Wings ($13) and more.
