Pearl’s Hill Terrace is truly a treasure trove of hidden gems, and the latest addition to the area is Paaru: a tranquil Japanese zen-like multi-concept space that’s perfect for spending a quiet afternoon.
Opened by the same folks behind Asaru Studio, Paaru is a café, bakery, tea room and experiential space all at once, with cosy and moody aesthetics that are truly unmatched.
The decor is designed to look and feel like a home, with an open kitchen concept, dark wood furnishing and large communal tables. The intimate space is also dimly lit with Japanese-inspired paper lamps for a warm and homey wabi-sabi-esque vibe.
As the café is still in its soft launch phase, the menu is limited, but bakes are made fresh in-house from their bakery next door, Paaru Bakery. On the current menu are items like Eggs on Shokupan ($12), Bircher Muesli ($14), French Toast Shokupan ($12), Fruit Salad ($10) and more, alongside coffee brews and drinks.
Don’t skip out on visiting their bakery just next door to pick up some fresh bakes and desserts: Montblanc, Strawberry Short Cake, Rare Cheese Tart, Madeleine, Matcha Shokupan and Flourless Chocolate Cake, just to name a couple.
