The ambience at bommoi is super aesthetic and serene, with clean, light wood furnishings and wide windows to let in plenty of natural light (and for people watching). Grab a book from their selection (or bring your own) and kick back at their café area, a unique space that’s modelled after traditional Korean-style “floor seating” with slightly raised platforms and cushions for you to sit on—something you don’t see in your usual cafés.

If you’re feeling peckish, they’ve got a DIY Snack Tray Set ($7.50) where you get to choose your own snacks and drink from the counter. You get to pick 4 of your favourite snack items from their selection of Korean treats, as well as 1 carton drink.

On the café menu are also specialty drinks like Tea Soda ($9.50), Tea Latte ($9.50) and other Korean specialty tea pots (from $6). Their hot tea is also served with a side of yakgwa, a traditional sweet Korean honey cookie. You can also bring your own water bottle and they’ll fill it for you with complimentary filtered water!

While the bookstore mostly stocks Korean children’s picture books, adults can also enjoy them as they’re all beautifully illustrated, and make for great coffee table books too. Even if you can’t read Korean, there are also a couple of English book titles to look out for! There will even be Korean poetry reciting sessions happening on selected days in November 2023, so you can head down if you’re interested to learn a little more about the Korean language and culture.
