You’re probably familiar with the popular 100% Muslim-owned restaurant, The Social Outcast, known for their woodfire smoked meats and seafood items. But did you know they’ve recently rebranded to become a new experiential omakase dining concept? The Social Outcast now serves various meat and seafood omakase sets, and the experience is unlike any other omakase you’ve ever seen!
When you first enter the restaurant, you’ll be greeted by a vibrant Mexican-inspired space, but don’t be fooled—the real fun starts when you enter via a little hidden hole in the wall to access the actual omakase restaurant!
We had the limited time Wagyu Experiential Omakase ($125++ per person) that included 9 different cuts of wagyu beef, including Brisket, Tongue, Top Round, Rump, Chuck Roll, Shank, Knuckle, Gooseneck Round and Short Plate. Each piece will be cooked over woodfire right in front of you and served piece by piece, just like a Japanese sushi omakase!
Have the meat by itself or pair them with the various condiments and sauces provided, such as the Korean-inspired Marinated Egg Yolk, Yuzu Ponzu Dressing, assorted House Made Butter (Mint, Truffle Egg Yolk, Smoked Chipotle Avocado) and kimchi. You’ll also be able to enjoy free flow brioche bread with your meal that you can use to make your own DIY wagyu sando!
If beef isn’t your cup of tea, they also have a seafood-centric Alaskan King Crab Experiential Omakase ($188++ per set). The Social Outcast also offers a la carte menu items like Moluccas Beef Ribs ($38), Jamaican Jerk Chicken Leg ($22), Paitan Udon ($15) and more. The Social Outcast offers a novel omakase experience that lets you let loose while you feast, and they even have various interactive games you can play with as you dine!
