Haji Lane is known for its many cool haunts: from thrift stores galore, hip bars, lifestyle and art joints and more. Now enter Strait Jacket, the newest kid on the block with an oh-so-cool street-inspired aesthetic and honest coffee.
Stepping into Strait Jacket is like diving headfirst into street culture: the lilac-hued space is dotted with lots of graffiti art, cool art prints and quirky zines—the place literally drips street vibes.
The café currently only offers coffee brews, and prices are pretty affordable starting from $2.50 for an Espresso. Other unique drink options also include Mocha Chai ($7), Lemonade Espresso ($7), Orange Chocolate ($7), Tonic Espresso ($7) and more.
Strait Jacket also looks to champion the local art scene, so you’ll find one-of-a-kind artworks, prints, knick knacks and apparel up for sale as well. As of now, local artists featured at the café include @sheltershelterrr, @naimacat, @hans.psd, @wassiesasia and more.
The name “Strait Jacket” (as in the garment used to restrict movement) is quite a striking one, especially for a café, but we’re told is an intentional move by the owners. Strait Jacket looks to welcome people from all walks of life, to become a safe space where unique individuals can be free to express themselves, and meet other like-minded friends.
As of now, Strait Jacket is still in their soft launch phase, so they’ll only be open 2 times a week. Opening days are not fixed, so check their Instagram highlights every Sunday to for the latest updates on opening days and times for the following week.
