Project Panichi is a homegrown brand that makes handmade edible gems that look just like actual gemstones! Project Panichi was founded by a Japanese-Singaporean during the Covid-19 pandemic as a means to help those affected by Covid-19.
These edible gems are called Kohakuto, a kind of traditional Japanese Wagashi (confectionary) made from dehydrated agar jelly. The candies have a crunchy exterior and gooey middle, and they can be eaten on their own, but are best enjoyed with a cup of tea.
These gorgeous candies come in various flavours, each with an appearance that resembles real gemstones. Try the “Carnelian” (Singapore Sling), “Citrine” (Lychee Osmanthus Jasmine), “Tanzanite” (Pulut Inti), “Calcite” (Yuzu Peppermint) or “Amber” (Shiso, Maple & Darjeeling), with flavours switching up seasonally.
Prices for the gems are:
5 pcs – $13
8 pcs – $20
All of Project Panichi’s treats are made with natural ingredients, gluten-free, vegan and with no preservatives, so you can be sure you’re getting only the good stuff. You can order via Instagram DM for delivery or self-collection at Holland Village MRT.
