ION Orchard has teamed up with Mattel and renowned Singaporean Barbie collector Jian Yang to bring you a glamorous and star-studded exhibition featuring over 600 Barbie dolls! Jian Yang has been collecting Barbie dolls since he was a mere 5 years old, and over the past 30 over years, he has amassed a whopping 12,000 dolls—the largest collection of Barbie dolls in Asia! All the dolls in the House of Dreams exhibition are from Jian Yang’s treasured personal collection and marks the largest ever public showcase of Barbie dolls in Singapore.

The exhibition features Barbies dressed in all sorts of outfits: from extravagant evening gowns, beautiful bridal wear, F1 racing gear, traditional and ethnic wear and more! Spot dolls dressed as some of your favourite pop culture icons like Elvis, Superman, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Cher; plus dolls from movies, TV shows and musicals like Harry Potter, High School Musical, Wicked, The Wizard of Oz, Twilight, Hunger Games and tons more!
Don’t miss out on some of the most luxurious (and expensive) dolls in the collection: each wearing designer goods from some of the top fashion houses like YSL, Karl Lagerfeld, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, Moschino and Valentino, just to name a few!
What makes this Barbie exhibition one-of-a-kind is the fact that it champions diversity and inclusivity the dolls featured; so you won’t just be seeing the stereotypical slender, blond hair and blue eyed Barbie girls being put on display. Instead, you’ll also find dolls of all shapes and sizes, in all kinds of skin colour and even dolls with disabilities! There will be petite dolls, curvy dolls, dolls with afros and textured hair, dolls with vitiligo, dolls with prosthetic limbs and even a doll on a wheelchair!

There is also a Singapore showcase featuring dolls dressed in recycled and upcycled outfits. This series is done in collaboration with some of Singapore’s local brands and are all handmade by Jian Yang himself! Peep outfits made of shopping bags from Love, Bonito, KLARRA, IN GOOD COMPANY; a dress made from Bynd Artisan’s notebook paper and outfits made from ION Orchard’s old ang pao packets and Christmas wrapping!
