The highly-anticipated opening of New Bahru, Lo & Behold Group’s latest lifestyle destination is finally here; with an official, fully-fledged opening slated for September 2024. The creative cluster is currently in its soft opening phase, and we got a first look at some of the tenants that are currently open and ready for business.
The sprawling space is housed at the former Nan Chiau High School, restoring much of the school’s original architecture. Traipsing through the place feels pretty nostalgic, very much like being back in school with its corridors and halls that house various tenants, shops and restaurants instead of classrooms.
OATSIDE Playground
CS Fresh
Many of the open spaces and some of the tenants, are also pet-friendly: like the OATSIDE playground, and even the CS Fresh supermarket. New Bahru’s CS Fresh outlet even stocks special pet treats, like pet ice cream from Creamier and a self-serve dog treats snack bar by Alison’s Pantry!
soilboy
The vibe at New Bahru feels unlike any of the usual shopping malls, curating some of the most iconic and popular brands, especially local and indie names. There’s currently 40 tenants set to open in New Bahru, with about 11 that are already in business now. Some of the tenants we visited included soilboy, an absolute haven for plant lovers, with a stunning wabi-sabi-esque store interior for what we can describe as a serene plant shopping experience.
SOJAO
For premium bedding and home goods, head to lifestyle store SOJAO, where you’ll find anything from bedsheets, sleepwear, decor pieces, fragrances and more. SOJAO is also pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your fur babies along to shop in-store.
Crafune
MAKE by GINLEE
Get crafty at Crafune’s new studio space for workshops (from $45) where you’ll get to try your hand at creating your own leather items like bags, wallets, cardholders, pouches and more. You can also shop their range of ready-made leather accessories and small leather goods in-store. The popular MAKE by GINLEE is also open, and you can experience their crowd-favourite MAKE experience (from $68) where you can DIY your own pleated bag, bring your old tees to turn them into tote bags, or create a one-of-a-kind accessory out of scrap fabrics!
The Sea Apple Create Store
Kiztopia Prestige
For the little ones (and the young at heart), The Sea Apple Create Store has plenty of printed kids clothes, bags, accessories, storybooks, toys and even the viral Jellycats (from $27.90)! There’s also a new Create station where you can DIY t-shirts, bags, hats and tags with specially designed embroidered patches and decals (from $1 each). Kiztopia Prestige is also here, a more premium concept from the entertainment brand, where the kids can enjoy immersive play rooms and workshops too.
