Singapore’s fast food scene has been absolutely abuzz lately, with famous fast food chain pop-ups like In-N-Out Burger, and now the upcoming Chick-fil-A pop-up happening from 26th till 28th June 2024. If you’re one of the lucky ones to have snagged a ticket for the dine-in experience, here’s a sneak peek at what you can expect from the meal.
Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich
All tickets to the Chick-fil-A pop-up were snapped up in a flash, and after trying the meal for ourselves, we kind of got the hype. The Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich comes served in a foil-lined bag to keep it warm, and the chunky slab of boneless fried chicken breast was tasty and well-seasoned. You’d think such a thick cut of chicken breast might turn out dry but it wasn’t the case at all. While the chicken wasn’t oozing juices, it was still pretty moist and tender to the bite, coated with a deliciously savoury crispy breaded crust.
Other than the chicken itself, the only other ingredient in the sandwich are a couple of dill pickle chips, which weren’t prominent enough to add much flavour aside from a subtle tanginess. The chicken is pretty flavourful on its own, but you can take it to the next level and sauce it up with their selection of specialty sauces. You get to pick 1 out of 4 sauces: their signature Chick-fil-A sauce, Sweet & Spicy Sriracha, Honey Mustard and Garden Herb Ranch. Out of the sauce options, the crowd favourite (and also our pick) has got to be the iconic Chick-fil-A sauce that’s tangy, sweet and subtly spicy all at once. Coming a close second is the Honey Mustard Sauce, which was smooth, sweet and full of umami.
Waffle Potato Fries
Waffle fries lovers will definitely enjoy their cult-favourite Waffle Potato Fries, which are unlike other waffle fries we’ve tried at other fast food joints. You’ll notice at a glance that what’s unique about Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries is that they’re much lighter in colour. That’s because they’re fried in fresh oil, and not for long, keeping them super crisp on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside so you can actually taste the potatoes themselves with each bite. They’re also served freshly fried and hot, which is definitely a bonus.
For those who are coming to dine-in at the pop-up, there’s also a couple of activities you can participate in for some extra fun. You’ll be given a stamp card to complete, and once you’ve completed all the tasks, you get to redeem an exclusive prize! Some of the tasks include snapping a photo at the life-sized Sauce Wall, sharing a smile with your neighbour and enjoying their Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich (of course).
If you’re bummed about not getting a reservation at the Chick-fil-A pop-up, you’ve still got one final chance to try Chick-fil-A in Singapore. They’re now accepting takeaway customers at the pop-up as well—but it’s limited to the first 200 customers daily starting from 11am onwards. You’ll be able to snag the entire meal: including the Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, Waffle Potato Fries and a drink. These additional takeaways are exclusive to walk-in customers only, not for dine-in, and are available while stocks last. All you have to do is make a $10 donation directly on-site to Community Chest to redeem the meal. Queues are to be expected for this takeaway option, so make sure to head down early to avoid disappointment.
