Nestled in the back alley of Gemmill Lane, Proper Slice by popular New York Chain BYGB sure knows how to stir up intrigue. The pizza parlour’s front entrance is plain and unassuming to say the least, situated smack next to the trash, no less.
Despite their not-so-attractive location, their pizzas are anything but ordinary. Proper Slice boasts the most authentic New York pizzas that are as close as you can get to the original, short of travelling to New York yourself. Replicating the pizza places of New York, Proper Slice has a “grab and go” concept, and there are no indoor seats available, save for the few standing tables outside the store.
You can buy their pizzas in slices as big as your face ($8/$10) or whole ($45/$55), and toppings include classics like cheese and pepperoni or sausage, as well as spinach and ricotta, white and veggie options.
Aside from pizza, Proper Slice also serves up sides like Stromboli ($10), Meatballs ($10) and Garlic Knots ($5).
