There’s been a boom of amazing new pizza joints in Singapore recently, but this upcoming pizza restaurant might just be the most exciting opening yet. Fans of the iconic romcom “Eat, Pray, Love” might recognise the name thanks to the classic movie scene of Julia Roberts scarfing down an entire margherita pizza—and they’ll be opening an outlet right here in Singapore!

L’antica Pizzeria da Michele is one of the oldest and most (if not the most) famous pizzeria in Naples, Italy, with a history dating back all the way to 1870. Their original outlet—the exact one from the movie—is a humble hole-in-the-wall joint along the street, and draws snaking queues and crowds of tourists all year long.

The pizzeria also has the Gordon Ramsay stamp of approval, with the celebrity chef calling it a “must-visit” pizza spot. They’ve got outposts in the US, UK, Spain and Japan, and now they’ll also be opening their first outlet in Singapore along Club Street. L’antica Pizzeria da Michele will also be the first in Singapore to serve pizza a ruota di carro, or cart wheel pizza, a traditional kind of pizza characterised by its extra wide shape.

While the Singapore menu has yet to be released, you can probably expect classic Neapolitan-style pizzas with fresh and simple toppings like Margherita, Marinara, Napoletana; along with pastas, wines, cocktails and more. The Singapore outlet is set to open sometime in April 2024.
