Welcome to the world of luxury sweets: Dubai’s award-winning luxury confectionery boutique, Bateel Boutique, has just landed here in Singapore! They’ve just opened their first-ever takeaway kiosk at Takashimaya Basement 2, with sweet treats and gourmet desserts from $9.50.
Bateel is most known for their premium organic dates, but they’re not just any ordinary dates: you can enjoy the natural sweet flavour of the dates, or make it even more gourmet with one of their stuffed or chocolate-dipped dates. Prices for dates start from $10 per 100g, and you can mix & match flavours as well.
Some of their popular and must-try flavours include the pistachio-stuffed dates that come filled with chewy chopped pistachio chunks. We also liked the dates filled with candied orange slices, and also the milk chocolate-dipped dates. They even have unique dates pressed into adorable heart shapes—perfect for gifting during special occasions.
While we were a little concerned that the dates would be overly sweet, we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t so at all. The natural sweetness of the dates tasted just right, they were also soft and chewy to the bite, and didn’t leave a lingering sweet aftertaste in the mouth. One thing to note when buying their dates or chocolates: their standard paper boxes are free with your purchase, but cardboard gift boxes are chargeable from $17.90 each.
Aside from dates, you can also get artisanal chocolate bark ($15 per 100g) and kunafa chocolate bars ($9.50 each). The kunafa chocolate bars are definitely on the pricier side considering their small size, but you’re definitely paying for quality here. The bars feature a thin chocolate shell that has a distinct and crisp snap when you break them, and the kunafa filling is made with real hazelnuts and pistachios—rich without being nauseatingly sweet.
Aside from ready-to-eat treats, you can also shop from their selection of retail goods, with various unique date-infused items: from jams, syrups, bars and even coffee.
