We found a unique DIY vintage watch experience in Singapore where you get to design your own watch from scratch, all for just $56.90!
This is probably the first-ever customisable watch experience in Singapore, where you can personalise every element of the watch to your liking. You can find the Design-Your-Own watch experience at Requisite’s booth, held every weekend at the RESURRACK marketplace along Bugis Street Art Lane. The Vintage Watch customisation experience is priced at $56.90, and includes your choice of watch face, unlimited chains, 1 charm and 1 clasp of your choice.
To customise your own vintage-style watch, all you have to do is follow these steps:
- Pick your desired watch face
- Match your watch face to the chain(s) of your liking
- Pick your type of watch clasp/closure
- Select 1 charm to be added to your watch
- Get exact measurements for your wrist
- Wait for your watch to be assembled on the spot
Requisite sources their vintage-style watch faces from various countries, including Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and China. All the watch faces offered feature Quartz movements and are battery operated. Currently, the watch faces offered are of a more feminine style, with options in various colours and shapes: round, rectangle, hexagonal, clover, heart-shaped and more. We’re told that they restock the watch faces with new designs almost every week, and are looking to bring in more masculine styles as well.
After picking your watch face, match it to the chain that you like. They’ve got over 80 different chain designs (and counting), with unique options in silver, gold and mixed metals too. You can even select unlimited chains for your watch, which means you can do a half-half style with 2 different chains, or even multiple thin chains to make up a layered strap— there’s so many possibilities here.
They’ve also got a wide variety of charms that you can attach anywhere you want on your watch chain: from initials, gems, icons and more. You also have the option to add on more charms for $4.90 each. You can even pick the kind of clasp you want: they’ve got various styles like OT, lobster hooks and even a magnetic option too. Once you have all the elements of your watch ready, simply get your wrist measured for an exact fit, and watch as it’s assembled on the spot!
You won’t have to wait long for your custom watch either, your watch should be ready to take home in about 20 minutes, depending on the number of custom watches ordered. If you have an old vintage watch face, you can even bring it to Requisite and get a new chain fitted for it. Aside from vintage-style watches, they can also customise straps for Apple watches. All custom watches from Requisite are entitled to a lifetime warranty, and you can come back anytime for replacement of parts or new batteries.
