Toast Your Own Bread at this Minimalist Cafe with Dainty Desserts in Taipei

Taipei may be well loved for its bustling night markets and shopping, but if you’re looking for a quiet respite, settle down in Cafe Mumi at Da’an District.

This newly opened cafe has all the qualities that make a modern-day Instagram feed: muted pastel colours, rattan chairs, and minimalist furnishing.

But the moneymaker? The Toasted Bread Set (S$18) that comes with an entire loaf of bread, butter spread, strawberry jam, a hard boiled egg, mashed potato and soup. What’s interesting is you get to toast the bread yourself, as each set also comes with a toaster. Always wish the bread at cafes came with more burnt ends? The toaster’s in your hands.

Cafe Mumi also appears to do interesting desserts, particularly those with fruits and vegetables. If this doesn’t make you want to eat your greens, we don’t know what will.

Other aesthetically pleasing sweet and savoury fares are also available on the menu; enough to whip up an appetite.
