If you live alone or meal prep just for one, you know the drill of cooking rice — either make a large batch and eat leftovers the entire week, or prepare a day’s worth of portion and go through the unjustifiable process of washing the entire rice cooker. Either way, it’s a chore. But we found a bento-sized rice cooker that’s perfect for those who cook just for themselves. Seriously, you can even cook rice in the office now.
Introducing the Super High-Speed One-Person Bento Box Rice Cooker by Japanese company, Thanko. This extra compact product measures just 24cm long, 10cm wide and 8cm tall. It also weighs only 1kg, so you can fit it right into your bag. Each unit makes about one serving of rice and takes roughly 19 minutes to cook, 14 if you’re making a half size batch. If you cook rice just for one on the daily, you’ll know this expedited process is a godsent.
As portable as this savvy product is, it does however require an electric plug. It’s a two-pin plug, so you might want to get an adaptor. For $68, it does seem a little overpriced for a mini rice cooker, but it’s a worthy investment in the long run as it saves the hassle of unnecessary washing and leftover rice.
