We gave one of their trial classes a try, and despite not being the fastest learners, we were never once rushed or chided, but instead encouraged patiently and warmly!
The instructors knew exactly what to do, and were very helpful in providing us assistance when needed while allowing us to have full rein over the baking process. This way, we got to fully enjoy the hands-on experience!

RedMan by Phoon Huat
Bake, shop, and eat all under one roof at RedMan by Phoon Huat, a multi-concept baking wonderland that houses a retail section, delicatessen, ready-to-eat-counter, and the RedMan Baking Studio!
The RedMan Baking Studio can accommodate groups of up to 12 people maximum!
Guest chefs are brought in to conduct masterclasses occasionally, but most of the classes offered are helmed by their resident chef who has close to 40 years of experience in the industry under his belt.
The chef also has a knack for putting a spin on classic dishes, so many of the recipes taught are his own creations! These include the Hailemese Buttermilk Bread & Garlic Tomato Bread, Chicken Floss Mochi Loaf, and Emulsified Chocolate Sponge & Black Forest Cake, and we found ourselves following every step with ease.
If I could say so myself, our pastries and cakes came out looking like they were baked by Martha Stewart herself. To be capable of creating such masterpieces was really an amazing feeling – something we’ve never thought was possible until that day!
Here’s the best part – you can purchase the same ingredients used in the class from the store to recreate your masterpiece whenever you want at home!
The store is full of baking supplies and more!
Besides bread and cakes, RedMan also holds hands-on workshops on cake-decorating. Whenever festivals like Mid-Autumn Festival and Christmas roll around, they’ll have classes to teach you how to make your very own mooncakes and log cakes too – you don’t see that around often!

Lemuel Chocolate
Reminiscent of Willy Wonka and his magical chocolate factory, learn to mould your very own chocolate bars from scratch at Lemuel Chocolate, an artisan chocolate studio at The Star Vista!
Specialising in bean-to-bar craft chocolates, Lemuel’s artisan creations managed to attain the highly coveted Academy of Chocolate UK Award. Its prized chocolates were made with only 2 ingredients – cocoa beans and organic cane sugar.
You can experience this fun in their Basic Tempering and Moulding class too!
Experience the joy involved in handcrafting chocolates through their expedited 3-Day Bean-To-Bar Workshop. We not only left as chocolate connoisseurs with new-found knowledge on how to identify quality chocolates, but also got a rare chance to pour melted chocolate all over a marble table top, spread them about, and create large swirl patterns with them!
Classes will be capped at 4 pax to ensure that everyone gets proper guidance!
You can also craft and hand-paint bonbons with coloured cocoa butter at their 2-day Handcrafted Bonbon Workshop. Besides learning how to make various types of bonbon fillings and cap and fill our bonbons properly, we ended the class with a pretty box of chocolates – in other words, the perfect handmade gift to someone special!
They have 3-hour long Bean To Bar Appreciation classes too!
Lemuel also has light snacks like single-origin bakes and hot and iced chocolates for sale. For those who wish to have a quick look around before signing up for a class, every day, 5 walk-in customers will be able to get a sampling session and a guided tour of the kitchen by the passionate founder himself! Admission to the tour costs just $5, which can be used to redeem other chocolate products in the store after the tour.
