Behind an inconspicuous brown door of a shophouse along Neil Road lies Arc-en-Ciel: a hidden pâtisserie tucked away on the second floor of the shophouse! Head up the stairs and push open the bright green door promising “big belly smiles inside” and you’ll be greeted by a bright Scandinavian-inspired space with soothing vibes and touches of nature.

There are a couple of seating options in the café: small tables or bar seating situated by the windows for scenic views of the Maxwell area, or large communal tables for larger groups. For those who aren’t familiar with the brand Arc-en-Ciel, they are a popular home-based business turned physical café, boasting gorgeous artisanal entremets, each with their own story.
Each handcrafted entremet is named after a significant person, event, or a memorable travel destination in their owner’s life—with each aesthetic dessert being just too pretty to eat! Each dessert also has their own recommended tea pairing, so you can choose to have it on its own or elevate the experience with a tea pairing. Choose from cakes like denise ($11), oona ($11), mayu ($12), vivian ($11) and more.

If you can’t decide, go for the A Day in the Park ($30) tasting menu comprising 3 entremets: lola, elijah and denise. What’s interesting about this tasting menu is that it’s served like a course menu, with each dessert and tea pairing brought out one by one to maintain the original flavour of the cakes for the best tasting experience!
