Classy warm muted pinks and cafe brunches at Serangoon
It seems like the toast fad isn’t going away any time soon, and with it being so comforting and versatile – you can have it as a hearty meal or a light snack, sweet or savoury – it’s easy to see why.
Joining the toast bandwagon is Amber Ember, a quaint new cafe that just opened its doors next to Upper Serangoon Shopping Centre! An 11-minute walk away from the crowd at NEX, Amber Ember is a charming spot with splashes of calming muted pinks to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle.
The table tops are marble, and potted plants and art pieces are artfully placed to recreate the look of a welcoming yet stylish home.
Aptly serving all-day brunches which fits the relaxed vibe of the cafe, their menu consists mostly of sweet and savoury iron-toasted sandwiches known as jaffles.
Crowd-favourites so far include the Truffle Shrooms ($11), Pablo’s Beef ($10), and PB & Jelly ($8), and the savoury options come with a side of your choice which includes buttered mash potato and purple cabbage apple slaw!
We got the purple sweet potato mash to go with our Pablo’s Beef jaffles!
The PB & Jelly jaffle is made with homemade peanut butter, konnyaku grape jelly, and frozen peanut parfait.
If you’re not in the mood for toasties, Amber Ember also offers Granola ($7) and Avo On Toast ($9) for the health-conscious, fusion Asian ‘Risotto’ ($10) and Fu Yong Eggs ($11) for the adventurous, and Medi Brunch ($12) and Carbonara ($14) for those with a bigger appetite.
Medi Brunch – torched miso butter cauliflower and red hummus on a bed of veg couscous.
Asian ‘Risotto’ – consists of purple rice porridge, braised pork chunks, an onsen egg, and a sprinkle of fried shallots and garlic.
Sharing sides are also available, with fried chicken AFC ($10) being a crowd-pleaser and Szechuan Spiced Fries ($8) a hit with mala fans.
The AFC is drizzled with blue cheese ranch and sriracha sauce for a flavourful and spicy punch!
Coffee beans from Cata Coffee are used, which are sourced directly from Colombia and Brazil – expect the beans to change seasonally every 3 months or so!
