Are you ready for the latest player in Singapore’s aesthetic café scene? Enter Ceres Haus, an atmospheric new café and wine bar hidden on the second storey of a shophouse (above Misfits) along Circular Road! Think abandoned attic vibes, but make it aesthetic—that’s probably how we will describe the decor (or lack thereof) at Ceres.
The space is almost raw and industrial, stripped bare with exposed ceilings, sparse decor and a neutral colour palette consisting of white, beige and wood accents. Aside from the minimal natural light streaming into the space from the small windows, Ceres is also illuminated by warm yellow lamps of varying shapes and sizes for a quirky and mismatched feel.
The lack of bright lighting makes for a super moody and intimate vibe, especially when night falls, perfect for a romantic date night. Seating is also pretty unconventional: while there are proper tables and chairs available, you’re also welcome to sit on the atop “crates”, concrete slabs or even on the floor for a more cosy feel. There’s also a little “private” nook tucked away in the space, partitioned by sheets of cloth for a little bit more privacy.
Ceres’ menu is quite limited, with a selection of light bites, bakes, as well as coffee and wine. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, options include Avo Sourdough ($12), Sweet or Savoury Sourdough Toasts (from $14), Marble Cake ($5), Tempeh Chips ($5) and more. For drinks, you have your classic coffee options (from $4) or you can opt for a glass of wine (from $16) from their curated selection of orange, white and red wines.
