Matcha lovers might have seen the viral matcha tap on social media at various overseas cafés; and if you’ve been hoping for one here, your wish is granted! Singapore’s first-ever matcha on tap has finally arrived, with fresh matcha dispensed directly from a literal tap!
You can find the matcha tap exclusively at SugarBelly’s new physical takeaway store in Jewel Changi Airport. They’re known as Singapore’s first specialty mochi donut store, and they’re also the first (and only) place to bring in the self-serve matcha on tap.
Matcha Strawberry, $7
There’s currently 2 flavours available for now, Matcha ($6) and Matcha Strawberry ($7); but more flavours are likely to be introduced in future. The process is simple: just pay for your matcha drink and receive a cup filled with ice. Then all you have to do is stick the cup underneath one of the matcha taps and watch as fresh matcha is dispensed automatically. For something a little more refreshing, go for the Matcha Strawberry, that’s made with homemade strawberry compote for that added tartness to balance the light sweetness of the matcha.
SugarBelly only uses premium ceremonial-grade matcha powder from NIKO NEKO MATCHA for their matcha drinks, with fresh batches of matcha is constantly made and whisked throughout the day. The matcha itself is easy to drink: velvety and smooth, lightly sweetened and with minimal bitterness. However, if you’re a serious matcha drinker, you’ll probably find Sugarbelly’s matcha to be lacking that desired richness.

You shouldn’t miss out on SugarBelly’s popular mochi donut offerings either, with up to 6 different flavours on rotation and new flavours added weekly. One of the must-flavours for this week is Mala Cheesy Ham, something mala fans will definitely love as it tastes just like mala, even down to the numbing, spicy kick. This is also Singapore’s first-ever savoury mochi donut!
They’ve also got plenty of other unique donut flavours, like Matcha Strawberry, KitKat Chocolate, Lotus Biscoff, Cinnamon and Sakura Strawberry. 2 out of 6 flavours will be switched out for new ones every week, but mainstays include Cinnamon, KitKat Chocolate, Lotus Biscoff and Sakura Strawberry. Donuts are priced at $6 each regardless of flavour, with each one also prepared fresh to order for maximum freshness.
