THIS F1-THEMED FOOD FESTIVAL IN SINGAPORE HAS VIRAL DESSERTS LIKE CRUNCHY KUNAFA DONUTS, CROISSANT “TARIK” & BINGSU BUCKETS!

ICYMI, F1 weekend is nearly here, and if you’re gearing up for the races, you might want to check out The Glam Circuit Festival happening in Kampong Gelam!

There’s over 30 different F&B stalls to explore at the festival, but just for all you sweet tooths, we’ve rounded up some of the most unique desserts you won’t want to miss!

1. 4Bros

Strawberry Cheesecake Bingsu, $13

Have you ever seen bingsu in a bucket? 4Bros is a new food vendor in the festival scene, and they specialise in freshly-shaved bingsu buckets in unique flavours! Bingsu starts from $11 per bucket, with both classic and deluxe options like Cookies n Cream, Pistachio or Mango Madness.

But one flavour that caught our eye was the Strawberry Cheesecake Bingsu ($13) that’s topped with an entire slice of strawberry cheesecake! The bingsu itself was soft, icy and milky thanks to the addition of milk on top, but we do wish it had more strawberry flavour. The bingsu also tends to melt pretty fast due to the heat so make sure to dig in quickly!

Rating: 3/5 refreshing but melts really fast!

2. Happiness in a Box

Cheese Kunafa Waffle, $8

You’ve probably seen the viral cheese coin before, and while Happiness in a Box has the original (and rainbow) version of the cheese coin, they’ve also got a levelled up Cheese Kunafa Waffle ($8), that’s drowned in chocolate sauce and topped with a dollop of pistachio kunafa!

We thought the combination of cheese and sweet toppings would be a little weird, but surprisingly the flavours meshed well together. And just look at that cheese stretch! Make sure to eat the waffle while it’s hot for the most ooey gooey cheese.

Rating: 4/5 love the rich pistachio flavour!

3. Croissant Tarik

Dubai Viral Chocolate Croissant Tarik, $18

There’s been plenty of viral renditions of the classic croissant, but this new creation is said to be the first-ever in the world! Croissant Tarik is the one stall that drew steady queues throughout our visit to the festival, so of course we had to check it out and see what the hype was all about. The croissants are baked with cheese before being topped with your choice of sauces and toppings.

We got one of their most best-selling flavour, the Dubai Viral Chocolate Croissant Tarik ($18) and it’s stuffed with melty cheese and doused in milk chocolate sauce and pistachio kunafe. You’re literally meant to “tarik” or pull the croissant apart to eat it—hence the name. It’s best to enjoy it while it’s freshly baked, and within 10 minutes to get the best cheese stretch. Be warned that the croissant gets pretty soggy with all the sauce, so if you prefer crispy croissants, this might not be your jam. It’s also quite decadent, so we recommend sharing it with a small group!

Rating: 3/5 definitely get this one to share!

4. Famous Mini Pancake

Ferrero Rocher Mini Pancakes, $12

Mini Dutch-style pancakes are always a hit at pasar malams and food festivals, so we had to hit up Famous Mini Pancake for one of their freshly-made pancakes drenched in chocolate sauce! They’ve got various flavours like Red Velvet ($8), Tiramisu ($9), Bounty Coconut ($6) or Matcha ($10), but we went with the classic Ferrero Rocher Mini Pancakes ($12). They were so generous with the chocolate sauce, we almost couldn’t even see the pancakes themselves!

Taro, $6

Aside from mini pancakes, they’ve also got savoury and sweet corndogs, of which we tried the Taro ($6). The chunky corndog came with a splash of pastel purple-hued taro sauce, and the taro flavour was pretty subtle, almost just like a fragrance instead of an in-your-face taro taste.

Rating: 4/5 they’re so generous with the chocolate sauce!

5. JomKunafa

Dubai Chocolate, $12

Triple Kill, $11

Yes, more kunafa. The kunafa craze is real, so when we saw these Crunchy Kunafa Donuts from JomKunafa, we couldn’t resist. The donuts are first baked for about 10 minutes to get a crunchy, almost caramelised crust. They’re then stuffed with various kunafa fillings and sandwiched, before the chocolate sauce is poured on top.

We got 2 flavours to try: Dubai Chocolate ($12) and Triple Kill ($11). The Dubai Chocolate is supposed to be pistachio flavoured, but we found that the filling itself lacked the nutty and rich pistachio flavour. Chocolate lovers will probably enjoy the Triple Kill that’s a chocolate overload with chocolate kunafa, plus milk and white chocolate sauce.

Rating: 4/5 we love the crunchy & sugary donut crust!

6. A Brewteaful Sip

For drinks, we spotted a couple of air balang stalls available, but we were drawn to A Brewteaful Sip’s rainbow-coloured display of drinks that were stacked in rectangular “tanks”. They’ve got over 20 drink options available, with lots of eye-catching and brightly coloured flavours like Blue Coral Paddlepop, Ice Milk Taro, Mango Tango, Butterfly Lychee and more. You can get them in a mini bucket for $3.50 or a 1L bucket for $5.

1L Strawberry Sundae, $5

We opted for the 1L bucket of Strawberry Sundae ($5) and while it was pretty to look at, we felt that it could do with a little more strawberry puree, especially for the size of the bucket.

Rating: 2/5 could do with more strawberry flavour!

Aside from the above, there’s still plenty more sweet treats at the festival: like colourful Buko drinks filled with fruits and jelly ($10 each), mini Deram ($5 for 20), Giant cheesecake boxes ($13), the viral kunafa chocolate bars (from $9) and more; along with lots of savoury food options too. There will also be various F1 themed activities and games like racing simulators ($10 per ride) and a life-sized cardboard race car that you can paint or draw over!
