This weekend, we take you out across Singapore for Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, an art exhibition romp, and weekend markets.
1. Mid-Autumn at Gardens by the Bay
Every evening, Gardens by the Bay will be lit up by giant lantern displays to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival that falls on the 15th of this month. These lanterns, the largest spanning 27 metres, help remind us of the stories behind the festival – that it is not all about enjoying mooncakes.
Perhaps the highlight of the night, designer Ron Arad’s video installation, 720°, promises to be an interactive experience. Part of the Singapore International Festival of Arts, 720° features a specially created production melding live performance with digital multimedia.
Also, don’t miss out on the street performances, food street, and craft and fringe activities available alongside this art-filled night out.

2. Singapore’s Largest Indoor Flea Market
If you are a fan of finding quirky, unique bargains at flea markets, you might want to check this out. Tucked away from the hot sun, you can expect to find a large variety of products at the largest ever flea market hosted in Singapore, that boasts over 200 stalls.

3. 2016 Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix
Little needs to be said about the Formula 1 Grand Prix, held in Singapore for the 9th year running. Set amidst the bustling city skyline, this is the only night race to be held in the world. Off the track, huge international acts like Kylie Minogue, Halsey and Imagine Dragons are performing over the three days, alongside local artistes like Charlie Lim and Gentle Bones.

4. Singapore International Photography Festival
Singapore International Photography (SIPF), the first event of its kind in Southeast Asia, is a biennial festival held to showcase works of photographers from all over the world. Exhibitions are scattered across Singapore, but what is so special about this festival are the Professional Workshops and Outreach Programmes – ensuring you don’t only appreciate the works, but can also take home a new skill or knowledge of this field.

5. Farmers’ Market at Loewen Gardens
A little escape from mass produced food consumed every day, The Pantry holds a Farmer’s Market get together once a month where one can expect to find fresh foods and organic produce.

6. Studio Ghibli Artworks at Polar Bear Gallery
Studio Ghibli fans will be pleased to know that a selection of original celluloids from director Hayao Miyazaki are on permanent display at Polar Bear Gallery, including scenes from My Neighbour Totoro, Princess Mononoke and Laputa: Castle in the Sky. Other featured artists include fantasy artist Naohisa Inoue, best known for his surrealist background art, and Tezuka Osamu, the God of Manga and the creator of Astro Boy.

7. Urban Ventures – Keong Saik On the Road
Once known for being a prominent red light district, Keong Saik Road has cleaned up its image and now proudly houses boutique hotels, cafés and art galleries in its rows of traditional three storey shophouses. For one evening, watch as it transforms from a hip, quiet neighbourhood to bustling street carnival. You can expect to see performances by parkour athletes, work out at a Zumba class, and chill over beer pong with your friends. A full list of performances and activities are available here.
