The viral Insta-famous funhouse from New York is finally here in Singapore! Loved by A-list celebrities around the world, 29Rooms is an iconic experiential and interactive art space making its Asia debut right here at Gardens by the Bay, and we managed to finagle an exclusive first look to give you a taste of what to expect on your visit!
Boasting a total of 29 different immersive and sensorial spaces and rooms, there’s plenty of things for you to do and see here! Start off with the 360 centrepiece titled Merry-Go-Round: a visual representation of the way we’re constantly busy and always working round the clock from Mondays to Fridays and even the weekends. Each section of the Merry-Go-Round is brightly coloured, and makes for some super aesthetic IG shots. There’s even a local-inspired section that’s modelled after our very own MRT carriage!
29Rooms Singapore has also teamed up with artists like Billie Eilish: who has created and personalised her own room titled The Invisible Embrace, designed specifically to feel, sound and even smell like a warm hug! The room is not only super dreamy and ethereal decked in gold curtains with moody and enchanting light projections, it even smells like Billie’s favourite signature scent: Eilish by Billie Eilish.
As an homage to Singapore’s iconic HDBs, and the practice of hanging clothes to dry on bamboo poles, we have Flag Your Goals: where you get to print some of your resolutions on t-shirts—and you’ll even get to take the finished t-shirt home with you as a memento! Pick from various exclusively designed Gen Z-inspired sayings and graphics like “Embracing Chaotic Energy”, “Come Back To Me In 3 Months”, “Not Your Therapist” and more, and watch as your t-shirt gets printed right in front of you! If you’re planning on snagging a free tee here, do expect quite a long waiting time.
For the sleep-deprived, head to Insomnia: a super cosy activation with a plush interior that resembles a giant bed! This is probably one of our favourite rooms in the entire space, and we would gladly take a nap here, with rotating sheep on the ceiling, reminiscent of how you “count sheep” while trying to fall asleep. The room even smells like baby powder, and you can feel free to step inside (make sure to take off your shoes) and lay down while watching the adorable sheep whizz over your head!
Indulge your intrusive thoughts of vandalising the pristine walls of your room at Paint Over Your Mess, and go ham with the colourful paints and paintbrushes, doodling anything your heart desires over the white walls of the room—no one will tell you off this time!
You’ll even be able to enjoy a tipple (or three) at Monkey Shoulder’s activation where you can play a money catcher game for coupons to claim cocktails at the live bar! Visitors will also be able to explore the brand new Samsung Galaxy phone with a super immersive room that lets you “travel the world” via life-like wall-to-wall projections!
There are still plenty more rooms and spaces to explore besides the ones we mentioned here, but we won’t spoil the fun and leave you to discover the rest when you come visit! Bring your besties along for the experience and have a blast together at the many interactive spaces, with tons of IG-worthy moments to boot.
