There’s a new café in town and it lies inconspicuously nestled within the private residential estate of Serangoon Garden. Situated along Lichfield Road, Chū and Co is a dual concept space, comprising of Chu Bakery, and Chulato – a gelato lab which begins operation at sunset.
Characterised by an industrial chic exterior, bordered by luscious flora and fauna and a variety of rustic furnishing, Chū and Co’s design aesthetic highly relies on the incorporation of unique fixtures. With no two tables set up to match, each element of the café presents an intentionally eccentric experience, which cannot be replicated at any other point of the space.
Serving up a diverse range of fresh bakes in the form of hearty toasts, loaf bread, sourdough, baguettes, pound cakes, brownies, and cookies, Chū and Co also offers a limited brunch menu, showcasing conceptual dishes like the Falafel Wholesome Plate (S$12), Appenzeller Cheese Toast (S$7), and a Caprese Sandwich (S$12), alongside a myriad of homemade coffee and tea alternatives.
By nightfall, the café’s transformation begins. Complete with a variety of unique gelato offerings, Chulato is best known for the Sake Milk, Smoked Whisky, Strawberry Pistachio, Mandarin Basil and EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) ice cream flavours. While the gelato lab is currently unavailable for visit, discerning guests are invited to drop by Chū and Co café anytime from Friday to Tuesday, at 8:30am to 4:30pm.
