If you have been to New York, you would have probably seen Luke’s Lobster’s unassuming stalls all around the city, often with snaking queues that serve as testimony to the eatery’s popularity. Founded just 11 years ago as a humble hole-in-the-wall restaurant, the lobster shack quickly made a name for itself due to its delicious and generous servings of seafood and its sustainable fishing approach, and is now a global chain with 36 outlets and hordes of loyal fans.
With the pandemic going on, it is unlikely that we’ll be able to travel to Japan or New York for a taste of Luke’s famous lobster roll anytime soon. But good news for us here, Luke’s Lobster will be opening in Singapore on 23rd September!
A must-try at Luke’s Lobster is of course, their signature Lobster Roll ($25.50). If you have tried the rolls before, you would surely recognise the distinct scent of the rolls – a combination of Luke’s secret seasoning and their signature lemon butter. The roll is literally overflowing with chunks of juicy lobster meat, creating a perfect contrast with the bun’s crispiness in every bite. We’re talking more meat than bun here, so you know that you’re getting your money’s worth.
In addition to lobster, Luke’s also offers Crab ($23.50) and Shrimp ($21.50) rolls, and you can even try all three rolls at once with the Trio Platter ($33.50). Accompany your roll with a fresh tub of Lobster Bisque ($12.90) which comes with huge chunks of juicy lobster meat!
Drinks on the menu include soft drinks, cold brew tea, to even beers! Prices start from $5.
Even though the seafood from Luke’s Lobster are freshly imported from Portland itself, you’ll be surprised to find that the prices on the menu are actually not much different from the ones in America (a Lobster Roll with a drink there costs US$25). With all catches flash-frozen from the moment they are caught, Luke’s ensures that optimum freshness is preserved so we can enjoy the Maine Lobsters’ signature sweet taste here in Singapore despite being thousands of miles away.
If you’re worried about the impact mass-fishing has on the environment, Luke’s got all your questions answered. Not only does the company work directly with local fishermen who engage in ethical fishing, they also adhere to maximum and minimum size guides for the lobsters caught, and release all juveniles and breeding females back to the wild. With this level of transparency, you can stuff your face with all the lobster rolls you want, guilt-free.
Luke’s Lobster officially opens at 1pm on 23rd September. We heard that there might be a queue, especially with safe distancing going on, so head there early to chope your spot! Alternatively, you may make pre-orders on takeaway items from 12pm on 17th September here.
