When booking hotel rooms, we usually look for reviews on trusted sites like TripAdvisor or even Instagram. Is it influencer approved? Given a five star rating by seasoned travellers? But what if it’s authorised by the Japan Ninja Council? That’s exactly the credential hotel chain Mimaru Hotel’s latest franchise in Tokyo has been given.
This newly opened franchise, located in Tokyo’s Ueno Okachimachi district, has a Ninja Room that’s built under the guidance of the Japan Ninja Council. Find traditional trappings of shinobi culture like shuriken, kunai throwing knives, clandestine communication scrolls and ukiyo-e-style ninja artwork plastered on the walls.
Each room sleeps up to eight guests and stays true to Mimaru Hotel’s emphasis on comfort and space. The rooms are also kid-friendly, with six single beds and a bunk bed, so don’t worry about your own little ninjas not settling in.
Clearly, a must-visit in Japan are sushi restaurants. But how does having a sushi counter in your hotel room sound? Pretty sick, at least for us. Mimaru Hotel in Ueno also has a Premium Family Apartment that comes with a full-fledge sushi counter. Each room comes with complete kitchen equipment and even a rice cooker, so don’t let that all go to waste. Grab some supplies at the supermarket and have your own sushi-making party!
Similar to the Ninja Room, the Premium Family Apartment also fits up to eight and comes with six single beds and one bunk bed too.
Rates for the Ninja Room and Premium Family Apartment are at about S$685 a night each. Book here.
