We’ve crossed the Causeway multiple times to cover new and interesting things — hidden bars, five litres worth of bubble tea, burnt cheesecakes and more. But a theme park? Definitely a first. So we had to check out Euro Fun Park, Malaysia’s largest travelling amusement park which just opened in JB.
Getting to the theme park isn’t difficult as it’s located around AEON Mall at Tebrau City, which is about 30-45 minutes from the Causeway depending on traffic. We recommend taking a cab from the Causeway; it will cost you about RM17 (~S$5). Prices for the theme park are RM5 (~S$1.60) for an adult and RM3 (~S$1) for children ages 3-12. Super affordable!
Tokens have to be purchased inside carnival grounds in order to enjoy the attractions. One token will set you back RM2 (S$0.60). Depending on your fear level, if you want to conquer the scariest ride first, go for the heart-racing Vortex (10 tokens). Warning: Not for those with a fear of heights!
Another thrilling ride would be the Challenger (8 tokens). If we have to compare, the Challenger might actually be more terrifying due to the 360-degree twisting and flipping in the air — just make sure not to eat before attempting this ride.
The Sky Rider is also a great ride to attempt and enjoy the view; though it moved so fast we could barely see anything.
Sit on the Euro Wheel (8 tokens) instead to enjoy the view at your own pace. But if you can’t sit on another ride at this point, this larger-than-life ferris wheel also makes for a fantastic photo backdrop.
As with every carnival, bumper cars (4 tokens) are an essential.
Kiddy rides are also available for the younger ones and range around 4 tokens.
Don’t go home empty handed — try your hand at the carnival games! While there are plenty to choose from, the more interesting ones are Balloon Darts, Dolphin Derby, Fishing and Shooting. They range around 4-5 tokens.
Also have your own Bingo moment, rarely found in theme parks in Singapore.
While carnivals are not rare occurrences in Singapore, we think it’s still worth taking a weekend trip down to JB to visit Euro Fun Park. For such a pocket-friendly price, you get top tier carnival rides and games! There is no food inside carnival premises, but you can get a quick fix from local vendors selling tea, ice cream, and kacang putih just right outside the entrance.
Euro Fun Park is running from now till 22 March 2020. Tickets can be purchased on ground.
