Here’s a list of Pasar Malams happening in the month of December so you can eat, shop and play (claw machines!) your heart out to prepare for the new year.
Not sure what to expect, or where to start? Here are some interesting items to try!
Souffle Pancake
Soft and fluffy Japanese pancakes that come in original, strawberry and chocolate flavours.
Fried Oreos
If you say you’ve never been to a pasar malam for the sole intention of getting just fried oreos, you’re lying. These artery-choking treats, which usually come in a pack of 6, are crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. You can choose to put additional chocolate and caramel toppings too — but we bet you already know.
Thai Milk Tea
Once upon a time, we had to travel all the way to Thailand or go to Golden Mile for authentic Thai milk tea. But not anymore, as you can find this refreshing sweet drink at almost any night market now. If you’re lucky, you might even some versions with tapioca pearls!
Cheese Banana
Taiwan Street Food
No night market is complete without Taiwanese street food, and the pasar malams here are no exception. Common favourites are the Crispy Fried Chicken and Oyster Meesua, but they also have other variations of the loved poultry like Honey Chicken Chop and Salted Crispy Chicken. For vegetarians, you can find deep fried mushrooms as well as sweet potatoes.
Sweet Potato Ball
Another signature snack in Taiwan night markets — crispy balls filled with sweet potato fillings.
Mala Skewers
Your favourite street skewers now in mala flavour. Over 20 types of skewers to choose from in three different forms: Fried Spicy, Fry Mala and Soup Mala.
Mango Float
The best drink for Singapore’s hot weather: mango float! Brown sugar options available too.
These are just some of the food you can find out of the hundreds available at pasar malams. Let us know what’s your go-to night market choice of food!
